Public celebration Mtskhetoba was held in Mtskheta on the initiative of the Mtskheta –Mtianti Governor’s Office and Mtskheta Municipality Council. Great number of events were conducted regarding the day. Folk ensembles from Mtskheta and neighboring regions took part in the celebration activities.
After special service conducted in the Svetitskhoveli cathedral visitors moved to the streets where they had an opportunity to watch the events holding there concerning the very day. Celebration activities in the ancient capital of Georgia were underway . . .

The American Ambassador and the Governor of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region took part in the opening ceremony of the project:”New Economic Opportunity”, alongside with the representatives of the Georgian Government and the members of the civil society. The ceremonial was held in the village Qvesheti on October 21.
NEO is a four year long program and was funded by the American Embassy trough the USAID. The programs aims at increasing the income of the villagers, reduction of the poverty rate, supply water for the village and solve the irrigation problem. From now on NEO is starting its working activities in ten municipalities and will support 70 000 families mostly ones in need. The American Government assists the Georgian country to solve the problems existing in the villages and maintains the population to be engaged in different economic activities, that eventually will result economic progress of the villages.
The Governor and the Ambassador had a discussion with the local population in the hotel “Qvesheti” where they talked the issues regarding the NEO project.
The said project aims to protect the municipalities and Qvesheti like villages to define and fulfill cost effective infrastructural projects, attract investors and establish good relations on the world market. At the same time NEO will provide grants, conduct trainings and give the technical assistance to the appropriate people. Generally NEO aims to absorb all the opportunities to better economy, eliminate unemployment and increase the income from agriculture.
After consultations with the local residents the Governor and the Ambassador were presented handmade crafts of the villagers and served the Georgian cuisine in the hotel “Qvesheti”.
