Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure visited rehabilitated building of Tianeti Municipality Administration. After appreciating the new building the head of the ministry gave Tianeti Municipality staff two new vehicles for refusing collectors. Soon the municipality will receive 100 dust pots. The equipment was bought by the ministry of regional development and infrastructure in the terms of the “The Project of Municipal Service “, funds were allocated by the Georgian Government and the Bank of Asian Development.

It should be mentioned that the local population has ceaseless water supply. Before the beginning the ehabilitation . . .

Medical fund “Hippocras” gave a free medical diagnostic to the beneficiaries of the Dzegvi rehabilitation center . Medicines were distributed to all the people in need. The action was held on the initiative of the Mtskheta –Mtianeti Governor’s office and the local self government. This charitable activity was organized by humanitarian organization “Helen care “ and the organization “Adamiani”.

Number of medical companies participated in the action: ltd “Aversi firm”, ltd “PSP-Rikhter” ,ltd “Iveri-Medi”.

The Head of the President’s Administration -David Tkeshelashvili and the Minister of the Regional Development and Infrastructure –Ramaz Nikolaishvili visited Mtskheta –Mtianeti Region on the 1-st of March. They had a meeting with the Governor of the Region-Tsezar Chocheli, heads of the local Boards, chairmen of the local Municipalities and the deputies to the Parliament. Participants of the meeting resumed the previous year and planned projects for the coming.

On march 10 the meeting of the local NGOs and UN representatives was hold in the village Ananuri ( Dusheti Municipality) in the conference hall of the restaurant “Ananuri”.The aim of the conference was strengthening of Georgian public society, intensify relationship between NGOs and local and state authorities, also presentations of the projects, prepared by the participants. The meeting was held with the attendance of the Governor of the Mtskheta –Mtianeti region and all the leaders of the regional municipalities.

The conference was held on the initiative of The Mtskheta-Mtianeti Administration and The Agency of the Protected Areas with the attendance of the representative of the German Bank of Reconstruction Loans (KFW).

An important meeting within the framework of War Free World Heritage Listed Cities project was hosted by the Municipality of Mtskheta on March the 25th, at the Mtskheta Palace Hotel. Key Georgian authorities as well as experts on culture heritage gathered to discuss main steps forward for a better protection of cultural heritage from armed conflicts. This project funded by the European Union through the worldwide programme CIUDAD.

Mtskheta-Mtianeti region hosted several events in honor of the people ,killed on April 9.1989:

One of them was at the Shota Rustaveli Library, where the members of Mtskheta municipality culture and sport bodies took part coupled with the schoolchildren. The audience gave a speech, recited pieces of poetry and performed many other interesting plays.They were also shown video recording of the very day, that was followed political discussions

Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development gave 40 new Japanese “Toyota” cars and water testing equipment (of German origin)to the United Water Supply Company.

The ceremony of providing cars was held in Mtskheta ,as construction of the new water company is planned within 300 hundred meters from the very place. The new organization will prevent water (the Aragvi river) pollution from biological waste and will be the guarantee of ecologically pure environment for Mtskheta residents . . .

Tourism information center was opened in the renewed part of ancient Mtskheta on the initiative of the National Tourism Agency. The center was officially opened by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Chairperson of The National Tourism Agency and Representative-Governor in Mtskheta –Mtianeti Region-Tsezar Chocheli.

Tourists will receive information about directions, accommodation and catering. They will also be offered a guide service. Tourists will have access to a free internet cafe. Around 2010 Mtskheta was visited by 120.000 visitors .Among them-78% arrived . . .

Representative –Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region-Tsezar Chocheli and the head of the Mtskheta Municipality Board-Andro Kalandadze met with the German Ambassador Ortwin Hennig on April 18,2011.

The meeting was held in the Governor’s office in Mtskheta and was of a familiarize character.The subject of their speech was existing problems of the region. Mtskheta-Mtianeti conference hall hosted the ceremony of presentation of local municipalities’ official websites. The event was held on April27 of the current year.

Official websites of Mtskheta-Mtianeti municipalities (Mtskheta,Kazbegi,Dusheti,Tianeti)and also Akhalgori were placed on the internet in March of the current year in testing regime. They have been operating for several days.

On April 22 the chairman of the Mtskheta municipality board, the head of the local board and other members of the local government visited the children’s foster house to congratulate Easter celebration to the people in need and provided candy and other food for them. The action was held on the initiative of the Representative-Governor of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti office.

The same kind of action was also held in Dzegvi and Dzalisi foster houses.

International tourist exhibition “EXPOBATUMI-2011” was opened in Batumi on April, 29. The exposition hosted 12 countries and 150 tourist companies.

Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Turkey exposed their potential together with Georgia and many other countries.

International tourist exhibition “EXPOBATUMI-2011” is held annually since 2008 on the initiative of Department of Tourism and Resorts of Ajara A.R. Since 2010 the exposition is under the list of World tourism exhibitions. . . .

On the initiative of Mtskheta-Mtianeti government and local authorities, free medical study was conducted for IDPs. Organizers of the action were international charitable organization ”Hellenicare” and non entrepreneur company “Adamiani”(human being) . A team of physicians of Greek medical fund “Hippocrates” conducted activities. The team involved number of specialists: therapist, pediatrician, cardiologist, neurologist, ophthalmologist, radiologist, lab worker and a nurse.

IDPs were provided with suitable medical assistance (analyses, ultra wave research, and cardiogram) and medicines. . . .

Blessing ceremony was conducted for the opening of the newly constructed church in the IDPs community. The ceremony was started at 8 a.m. by Martkopi-Gardabani Bishop Jakob. The process was followed by huge number of congregations to attend the liturgy.

The construction of the temple was based in December,2009.Currently it has already been finished and begins operating from now on. Funds for the construction were allocated by the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Governor’s Office, Mtskheta Municipality Self Government body, company “New Energy” and other companies. This is one more long term project ,implemented by the company . . .

Sporting-healthy competition was hosted by newly reconstructed sport gym in the village Galavani. Youth teams from all the municipalities of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region took part in the event. The age of participants ranged from 9 to 14.each of the team comprised 20 participants. The event was held on the initiative of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Governor’s administration, on May 18.

Mtskheta sport gym hosted the competition among the Georgian wrestling teams. Competitors from the Georgian Regions fought for the victory.

Eight teams from the Georgian Regions competed in five weight category(60,70,80,90,+90).

The following teams competed with each other : Qvemo Qartli - Shida Qartli,Kakheti-Ajara,Mtskheta-Mtianeti-Imereti,Tbilisi-Racha-Lechkhumi . . .

A team of five public officials from Mtskheta-Mtianeti Municipalities visited Poland.

The project was funded by the Poland Foreign Ministry. With the framework of the project representatives of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Municipalities and Regional Administration were provided with the training of project management. After coming back to Georgia the team members will share their knowledge to their colleagues.

Mtskheta hosted the concert ,held on the initiative of the tourist agency ”Visit Georgia”and by the support of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Administration.Yale Alumni Chorus(USA)participated in the concert alongside with the Georgian folk ensembles(from Gori,Rustavi and Basiani).

The leaders of the Yale Alumni Chorus were initiators of the concert, as they wanted to express their support to the IDPs.

Participants from different parts of Georgia also took part in the concert and showed their skills in folk music. . . .

The Prime Minister was initiator to conduct a meeting with the Regional Governors.All the governors and deputy governors attended the gathering.

“Mtskheta –Mtianeti region urges about 700 000 laris to restore failed infrastructure”-stated the deputy governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region Givi Amirkhanashvili to the journalists.

He also added that roads ,potable water constructions and bridges are especially damaged . . .

Workshops for public officers and NGOs within the project “Project management. Know-how for Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region” finished in Mtskheta on June 24.

The aim of this project is to share knowledge about project management among public officers and local NGOs of Mtksheta-Mtianeti Region. Nodar Dumbadze Tbilisi Children’s Town hosted The Khevsurian event:”A Gift Of Mountaiins to Valleys” on June,26.The performance was dedicated to the memory of Teona Qumsiashvili.The event was conducted on the initiative of The Mtskheta-Mtianeti Administration and tourist company ”Tebuloturi”.Poets, singers and folk ensembles from the land hill took part in the concert. On July 29 charitable action was held on the territory of the Mtskheta culture center. The event was held on the initiative of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Givernor’s office and international charitable organizations “LDS-Charity” and “Adamiani” . Special ceremony was held in Mtskheta dedicated to the memory of the warriors killed in the August war with Russia.

Mourning service was conducted in the Patriarchal Cathedral Svetitskhoveli. The service was finished with the action-blessed food was taken to the foster house.

At 1.00. p.m. a live chain was organized in the central square .At 3.00 p.m. representatives of the Governor’s office and local Board visited the families of the warriors killed in the war and paid one more honor to the families of the heroes’ . . .

This year on August 20 Autumn regular recruiting ceremony was held in Mtskheta.The event was organized by the Mtskheta Municipality Military Unit.

80 conscripts were recruited to the special military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia.

A conference hall of the Bazaleti tourist compound hosted a workshop to work out a regional development project of the Mtskheta-Mtianti Region .The event was initiated by The Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Administration and was held on September 7.The meeting is carried out under the EU project-“Technical assistance for the local and regional development” and is regularly held in the residential area of IDPs.

This year on September 9-12 Tusheti National Park hosted a training tour for the residences of the adjacent area of the Kazbegi National Park. The meeting was organized by The Mtskheta-Mtianeti Governor’s Office and supported by The Agency of The Protected Areas. The teaching was carried out with the attendance of the Kazbegi population(Administration of the national Park, representatives of the local Government, local environmental NGOs, private sector and others).Representatives of The Mtskheta-Mtianeti Governor’s Office and The Agency of The Protected Areas were also the participants of the project with the members of TJS/RECC. . . .

Public celebration Mtskhetoba was held in Mtskheta on the initiative of the Mtskheta –Mtianti Governor’s Office and Mtskheta Municipality Council. Great number of events were conducted regarding the day. Folk ensembles from Mtskheta and neighboring regions took part in the celebration activities.

After special service conducted in the Svetitskhoveli cathedral visitors moved to the streets where they had an opportunity to watch the events holding there concerning the very day. Celebration activities in the ancient capital of Georgia were underway . . .

On December 3, of the current year ,a new police station was opened in district Tianeti. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has started and operated 70 brand new police stations in different regions of Georgia for the last two years, two of them in Tianeti Municipality-in the districts Sioni and Tianti. Both of them are transparent constructions and are equipped with the latest pieces technology .

The international workshop was held in 5-6 December in Byblos at the Lebanese American University to discuss cultural heritage and sustainable tourism development issues in the eastern and southern partner countries of the European Union. Presentation party of marinated cottage cheese was held in the village Aragvispiri on Deceber 11, on the initiative of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Governor’s Office, non entrepreneurial union “Our Pshavi”and Dusheti and Tianeti Municipal offices.The event was called “The Charity of Pshavian Land”.The main task of the presentation was to popularize local agro tourism infrastructure and local natural product- marinated cottage cheese. Mtskheta-Mtianeti Governor’s Administration hosted the meeting between the Municipal Offices Heads and representatives of the civil bodies. The event was held on December 15,2012. Co organizer of the occasion was Civil Development Agency(CIDA).

A new administrative center was opened in the in Mtskheta Municipality village Dzlisi on December 20,2011.Two storied construction covers a village head office as well as number of civil service departments for the local residents- pensioners, militaries and etc. In addition to the said sections the center includes a medical dispensary, that had been working for years but in poor conditions and couldn’t operate sufficiently due to critically damaged construction.

Company “Socar Georgia Gas” held an opening ceremony concerning the setting a pipeline in the Mtskheta Municipality village Tsinamdzgvriantkari on December 26,2011.

140 customers are planned to be included in the single chain with the new 5 km length pipeline.

18 km length pipeline that will include 590 consumers is under construction. Following villages have already been involved in the project regarding the building of the new pipeline sections: Tserovani, Chardakhi, Dzalisi, Agdgomliantkari and Dzegvi . . .

New Year celebration concert was held in Mtskheta on December 31,on the initiative of the Mtskheta Municipality Council. Representatives of the Georgian show business - Rusa Morchiladze, Eter Kakulia, Gvanca Zaqareishvili, group -“Rondo”,Maia Karkarashvili,Sopo Gelovani and Tatia Giorgobiani participated in the concert. The event began at 10 p.m. on the central square of the down town and lasted up to New Year.

On January 10 the president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili opened a brand new hospital in Mtskheta. The center was set up in terms of Hospital Sector Development.

The center is built by the insurance company “GPI” and accommodates 25 persons. About 100 skillful physicians are employed there.

Four million was invested in the construction of the building. Consumers are given various number of services-ambulatory, stationary and therapy related. On the very day the president viewed the brand new project of Mtskheta Infrastructural Development . . .

Some sections in kazbegi Municipality are under the danger of avalanche due to the terrible weather pattern. That’s why the road to Gudauri-Kobi and Stepantsminda –Larsi is closed. Cleaning activities on the very sections are underway for 24 hours.

According to the meteorologists snowy weather will continue up to 21-st of January. From the very day till January 25 it will change to better, but from January 25 the weather will still get worse.
