Renewed Social Service Center was opened in Mtskheta
On June 2, Alexander Kvitashvili, the Minister of Labor, Healthcare and Social Affairs, Tsezar Chocheli, the President’s Representative in Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region and Andria Urushadze, the Director of the Agency of the Social Service has opened the renewed social service in Mtskheta. There is located the Mtskheta-Mtianeti regional coordination centre of social service agency and rayon department of Mtskheta.
The new office is equipped with the modern equipments and furniture. The building has a special entryway for the disabled people. There is also a waiting lounge, where the citizen can receive any information about the existing social program in country and services provided by the Agency of the Social Service.

Natural calamity in Mtskheta - Mtianeti
Intensive rains inflicted a big damage to all Georgia as well as Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region. Several villages of Tianeti Municipality were flooded with water entering some houses. The access roads to the villages of Lishi and Artani are significantly damaged. The Iori River has damaged the dikes; therefore, there is a big threat that the river might flood the population of nearby villages. At this moment, some of Tianeti villages are left without electricity.
The same situation is on the territory of Dusheti Municipality as well. The main road is significantly damaged in the village of Gudamakari. As a result of heavy rains last night, the water got into the people’s houses in Dumatskho and the crops were destroyed.
For three days, the above-mentioned villages have lost electricity. The population is isolated. Ukanapshavi and Barisakho are left without power as well. A high voltage electricity post fell down nearby. As a result of heavy rains, the Aragvi River rose making the reconstruction work difficult.
The heavy rainfall from June 13 until June15 ruined an electricity post in Stepantsminda. Near the Kanobi Bridge, the Tergi River flooded and posed a threat to the road. The access road to the village was also damaged. In the Trusso Valley as a result of a landslide, some parts of Kasari road require maintenance. Kazbagi District power supply was later restored after being interrupted.
The Regional Competition “Funny Starts” held in Dusheti
The regional competition “Funny Starts” was held in Dusheti sport complex on June 12. The participants were those schoolchildren (born between 1995 and 1997) who took first place in the sport competition held among Mtskheta, Dusheti, Tianeti and Kazbegi schools. “Funny Starts” was organized by Dusheti Municipality Board and the Department of Education, Culture and Sport. The teams taking the second and third places would get certificates and medals, while the winners of the first place would receive a cup.
The game became especially exciting when both Dusheti and Tianeti teams started to fight to win the first place. Tianeti team won finally and they will keep the cup until the next year while Dusheti and Mtskheta teams took the second and the third places respectively. In spite of the loss, each of Kazbegi team members was awarded with certificates and medals.
On July 7, Lasha Gotsiridze, the Executive Director of the Foundation of Municipal Development of Georgia, Koba Badagadze, Majority MP and Caesar Chocheli, Mtskheta –Mtianeti Governor visited Pasanauri to check the repair works of Pasanauri sewage system.

Pasanauri sewage system is under repair
On July 8, the final meeting of the championship 2009 of the National Boxing Federation of Georgia was held in the newly renovated sport hall of Dusheti Municipality. The competitors were those sportsmen born in 1995-96. The above-mentioned competition started in Dusheti on July 4 and will be finished on July 8. The main prize is Vazha-Pshavela Cup. The sportsmen from almost every region of Georgia participated in the championship. The competition was held in 16 weight categories. 18 first, 18 second and 36 third places were revealed between 34kg to 76kg categories. Petre Tsiskarishvili, the Chairman of the Boxing Federation, David Namgalauri, Chairman of the Department of Sport and Youth and the representatives of the local government, attended the final meeting in Dusheti. The championship ended successfully and the sportsmen taking the first place received special prizes on behalf of the Administration of Mtskheta –Mtianeti State Representative. The Georgian Boxing Championship will be held in Dusheti annually and will become a tradition soon.

On July 13, the Georgian Orthodox church was celebrated the memorial day of Christ’s 12 apostles.
Due to this celebration the Catholicon- Patriarch of Georgia Ilia the second offered up a prayer in Svetitskhoveli temple.
The patriarch conducted the seventh christening of new born childes in Svetickhoveli yard.
410 new born childes had been christened. More then 2000 childes are christened by the Catholicon-Patriarch of Georgia. This tradition was founded on christening day in 2008.

On July 21, Vice-President of Asia development bank Xiaoyu Zhao together with the executive director of world development bank, Lasha Gotsiridze visited Mtkheta-Mtianeti region. They visited some ongoing projects including water supply system rehabilitation project. Koba Badagadze, deputy of Georgian Parliament and Tsezar Chocheli, state representative in Mtskheta – Mtianeti region also accompanied them.
The Rehabilitation of the water supply system in Dusheti is implemented by the Municipality Development Fund (executive Director – Lasha Gotsiridze), in the framework of Municipal Service Development project (MSDP).
The construction works include changing water pipe systems and arranging wells as well as other things.
Final Result of the Project:
The final aim of the rehabilitation of the water supply system project is improve water access in the above mentioned municipality.

On August 1, 2009 “Khinkali” festival was organized in Tianeti. Such festival will have a traditional face in future and will be held in every summer for mount and “Khinkali” amateurs. The festival “Tianetoba” had charitable purpose. The amount that was donated from the festival will be used for rehabilitation of the square of Tianeti.
The event had started with the presentation of Tianeti rehabilitated cultural centre, which was opened by Mr. David Bakradze, The Speaker of The Parliament of Georgia and Mr. Giorgi Abashvili - Gamgebeli of Tianeti Municipality. Later the gusts and hosts moved to the square, where they enjoyed with the beautiful performances. The visitors were able to taste and appraise the various kinds of Khinkali. Local population of Tianeti treating guests with Georgian beer and “zhipitauri” family made vodka. Folklore ensembles and pop musicians participated in this event and made a real festive mood to the guests. Sport-entertaining events were also conducted here such as: Georgian “wrestling”, “lakhti“(the national game) “gorgaoba” and horse race. Besides the government officials and Diplomatic Mission representatives the Tianeti Festival was attended by many amateurs of mountains and traditions. The aim of the festival was to develop national traditions, agro-tourism, attract investors and tourists and resorts infrastructure. The festival started at 12:00 and lasted until late night.
Khinkali Festival in Tianeti
The Young Movement of Mtskheta is going to light a fire today at 12 o’ clock in Mtskheta next to Bebristsikhe. They will express a protest against the events, which was made by Russia against Georgia in August 2008.
The society which will be around the fire will respect the memory of the people, who were perished in the war (candles will be lighted).
According to anniversary of Russian aggression against Georgia will be Stopped traffic movement at 15 o’clock for some minutes in whole Georgia and in Mtskheta too. Society will have am opportunity with this action to respect once again the people, who were perished in the war. At the same time will be rung the bells of sorrow in every church of Georgia.
For the purpose of tourism development, the constriction woks of sport complex have been completed in Sioni settlement.
The modern interior of football, tennis and volleyball stadiums will cause pleasant and more comfortable conditions for tourists during the summer.
The construction works were done by Ltd “New Energy” and the needed amount for construction works was allotted from the reserve fund of president.
The presentation of new sport complex was held in 13 August in Sioni. The Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region together with the representatives from local self government of Tianeti attended this presentation and congratulates to population of Sioni and tourists the openings of new complex.

On September 1, 2009, by the initiative of U.S supported organization “Counterpart International, humanitarian Assistance program (CHAP) and non-governmental organization “Adamiani” was organized joint humanitarian action in Mtskheta in the park of House of Culture. In the framework of this action new wheelchairs and other humanitarian aids were delivered to the vulnerable disabled people. The above mentioned aids were donated to “Counterpart International” by the “Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Charities)”.
108 disabled local and by the results of Russian military aggression to Georgia, IDPs people were gifted wheelchairs. The total costs of wheelchairs are $6,372.00.
Different organizations, which are supported by the U.S. Department of State, such as ACTS, IRD, Hellenicare and UMCOR delivered to the mostly needed families varies kind of assistance, among them: hygienic, school kits, household supplies and others.
The representatives of U.S. Embassy in Georgia, donor organizations, the organization, which is supported by the U.S department of State and representatives of local government were attended this event.
Wheelchairs were delivered to disabled people in Mtskheta.
On September the 3, president of Georgia Micheil Saakashvili has opened the paper producing factory in Tserovani. Neoprint Ltd. was in charge of the project. The one million Lari funding for the construction project was granted to the owner of Neoprint, Ltd. by the state based on a reduced rate financing scheme. This project is due to employ approximately 150 displaced individuals from Akhalgori and Tskinvali (settled in Tserovani). It is going to be the first factory of its kind in the South Caucasus that will make paper products using foreign materials for the market.

On September 5-6, “Georgian poetry night” was conducted in Vazha-Pshavela’s village Chargali. The event was conducted to celebrate poets’ 148 anniversary. Well-known Georgian poets, theatre and musical groups were participated in this event.
The organizer and initiator of this event were Vazha-Pshavela museum and local Administration of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region. The “Georgian poetry night” was conducted in the museum’s adjacent territory. The special camp was organized for the participants of this event and was devoted to the Georgian poetry. Apart from this, the horse race was conducted with the participation of media and government representatives. The winners of the horse race were awarded with memorable prizes. Presents were delevired also to those people, who had the best knowledge of Vazha–Pshavela’s poetry.
The Georgia poetry Nighr” was leaded by the well-known Georgian poet Rati Amaghlobeli and actor Tsisana Kotilaidze.
The evening, which was devoted to Vazha-Pshavela has started in 5 September in Chargali and lasted the whole night.
