24 თებერვალს, საქართველოს პრეზიდენტი დუშეთში იმყოფებოდა. მიხეილ სააკაშვილმა თავდაპირველად სოფელ მჭადიჯვარში საბავშვო ბაღის ახლად გარემონტებული შენობა და სპორტული დარბაზი დაათვალიერა, ხოლო შემდეგ დუშეთში გადაინაცვლა სადაც ჯერ პოლიციეს ახალი შენობა, შემდეგ კი კულტურის ცენტრი გახსნა. პრეზიდენტი ადგილობრივ მოსახლეობას შეხვდა და სოფლი გზების მშენებლობასთან დაკავშირებით მათ ინფორმაცია მიაწოდა. ამ საკითხზე პრეზენტაცია რეგიონალური მართვისა და ინფრასტრუქტურის სამინისტრომ საგზაო დეპარტამენტთან ერთად მოამზადა. მიხეილ სააკაშვილმა აღნიშნა, რომ მჭადიჯვრის მიმართულებით ახალი გზის მშენებლობა დაწყებულია, რომელიც დუშეთის ბევრ სოფელს დააკავშირებს ერთმანეთთან.
“ ჩემი საპრეზიდენტო ვადის ამოწურვამდე საქართველოში თითქმის არ დარჩება სოფელი, განსაკუთრებული შემთხვევების გარდა, სადაც ძალიან კარგი გზა არ იქნება. ამას ხაზგასმით ვაცხადებ” – განაცხადა მიხეილ სააკაშვილმა. “ რა თქმა უნდა , საერთო მოთხოვნაა დასაქმება, მაგრამ ამ პრობლემების გადაჭრა ადგილობრივი საკითხების მოგვარებას ებმევა. მსურს ანგარიში ჩაგაბაროთ. ბუნებრივი გაზი რაიონში უკვე შემოვიყვანეთ, ამჟამად მიმდინარეობს შიდა დაქსელვა და მალე ოჯახებშიც შევა. რაც შეეხება წყალს, ჩვენ პრაქტიკულად დასრულებული გვქონდა სამუშაოები, როდესაც ჩვენს ქვეყანას მტერი შემოესია და ახალგორში სათაო ნაგებობა ოკუპანტებმა დაიკავეს, მაგრამ მხარის გუბერნატორთან, ცეზარ ჩოჩელთან ერთად დროებითი ნაგებობაც გავაკეთეთ და მაისის დასაწყისისთვის დასრულდება შიდა ქსელის მოწესრიგება, რაც იმას ნიშნავს, რომ დუშეთს წყალი სრულფასოვნად მიეწოდება” _ ბრძანა ქვეყნის პრეზიდენტმა. პრეზენტაციაზე, რომელიც გზების დეპარტამენტის ხელმძღვანელმა რამაზ ნიკოლაიშვილმა გამართა, ცნობილი გახდა, რომ 14 კილომეტრიანი გზის მშენებლობაზე 150 ადგილობრივი მცხოვრები დასაქმდება.
მიხეილ სააკაშვილმა ყურადღება ამ მხარის ტურისტულ პოტენციალზეც გაამახვილა. მას მიაჩნია, რომ ამ თვალსაზრისით ხევსურეთი და თუშეთი უნიკალური ადგილებია და ინფრასტრუქტურის განვითარება ამ მიმართულების განვითარების საწინდარი გახდება.
On January 24, Nika Gvaramia, the Minister of Education and Science, met with the teachers of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region ( Mtskheta, Dusheti, Tianeti and Kazbegi) in Mtskheta Public school 2.
During this business meeting the Minister answered many questions. The meeting was attended by all the teachers from the region receiving the president’s scholarship. The Minister of Education was received by Caesar Chocheli, the President’s representative in Mtskehta–Mtianeti Region and the representatives of the municipality.
On January 6, 2009 , the representatives of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region visited Dzegvi rehabilitation center to deliver food supplies for Christmas. Currently there are about 40 homeless children in the charity rehabilitation center under the patronage of Dzegvi St. George Mtsatsmindeli Nunnery. The Dzegvi children’s home has become known as a rehabilitation center only for a few years. It was originally established in 1995 and maintained through private donations.
The commencement of the winter season is predicated on the amount of snow fall. This year the late snow fall allowed the local administration to be better prepared for the season.

The children from Tskhinvali and Akhalgori regions displaced as a result of the Russian aggression and resettled in the newly built cottage houses in the village of Tserovani attended the New Year celebration at so called Tserovani central square on December 30. In order to create New Year atmosphere the first fir tree was planted symbolically in Tserovani. Later on a small concert was held, and at the end Santa Claus delivered New Year presents for the children.

At 1100, on February 25, the “Day of Occupation” was celebrated in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region and in other parts of Georgia. The public paid tribute with one minute of silence to the memory of those who died as a result of Russian Bolshevik aggression and repression.
