Workshops for public officers and NGOs within the project “Project management. Know-how for Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region” finished in Mtskheta on June 24.
The aim of this project is to share knowledge about project management among public officers and local NGOs of Mtksheta-Mtianeti Region. This know-how is crucial for Georgian local and regional authorities as well as NGOs in order to receive grants offered by international donor institutions working in Georgia, such as European Union Delegation, USAid, GTZ, SIDA and others.
The project is conducted by Marshal Office of the Wielkopolska Region (administration of the second biggest Polish region) and co-financed by the Polish development cooperation programme 2011 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. Polish partners of this project are: “Partners for Self-government” Foundation and 3 self-governments of Wielkopolska Region – Jarocin District, Witkowo Municipality and Czerniejewo Municipality. The beneficiary of the project is Administration of the Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region.
Before workshops, 5 leaders attended a 2-week training about project management and trainer skills, organized by “Partners for Self-government” in Poznan, the capital of Wielkopolska Region. After that they participated in 3 study visits in self-governments mentioned above, where results of implemented EU projects were presented.
Workshops in Mtskheta were conducted by leaders, with supervision of Polish trainer and project coordinator. Representatives of Administration of Governor, Mtskheta, Dusheti, Kazbegi and Akhalgori Municipalities took part in workshops, together with local NGOs.
The main result of the project will be project teams within regional and local administrations of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region. Applying for international grants will be the main target of these teams.
After the finishing of the last step of the workshops, Mtskheta hosted the conference upon the said workshops. Participants discussed the results and future plans. It should be mentioned that project managing teams will have a great importance for the local and regional administrations.
The conference was carried out with the participation of Deputy Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region-Nunu Mghebrishvili and Poland Ambassador to Georgia-Urshula Doroshevska.They noted that such kind of projects are crucial for the regional development of both countries. The coordinator and the polish trainer awarded participants with certificates and wished them success in their future activities.
