This year on September 9-12 Tusheti National Park hosted a training tour for the residences of the adjacent area of the Kazbegi National Park. The meeting was organized by The Mtskheta-Mtianeti Governor’s Office and supported by The Agency of The Protected Areas. The teaching was carried out with the attendance of the Kazbegi population(Administration of the national Park, representatives of the local Government, local environmental NGOs, private sector and others).Representatives of The Mtskheta-Mtianeti Governor’s Office and The Agency of The Protected Areas were also the participants of the project with the members of TJS/RECC. . . .
The American Ambassador and the Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region were present at the opening ceremony of the project : ” New Economic Opportunities” in the village Qvesheti
On November 10 Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development(MRDI),Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia(MRA),Municipal Development Fund(MDF) and “Movement Against Starving” presented their projects in terms of infrastructural development and focused on the role of the participants in the development of the program to ensure engagement of the regional and the local government in the said project. The meeting was held in the Administration of The Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region on November 10.Present of the meeting were all the heads of the Regional Municipality Councils and Boards. They discussed all the details of the project management.
Currently EU is conducting one of the parts of the project – assistance to conflict affected people.
Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development,Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugee and Municipal Development Fund implement the projects in a concerted manner, on the base of the mutual relationship. The projects are aimed to improve social conditions, public infrastructure(roads, irrigation and potable water systems, landfill problems) and other critical issues.
Four Regions of Georgia-Mtskheta-Mtianeti,Shida Qartli,Imereti and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti will be included in the project.
The main goal of the project is to integrate internally displaced persons in the local communities, develop respective infrastructure that will work not only for the IDPs but also for the host tribes.
The proposal will be discussed and approved by the committee. The project is to be implemented by Spring and Summer seasons. Municipal Development Fund will be responsible for their implementation.
